Els Pescadors de l´Escala was the name written in small letter of a Escala sailors which during the decades of 1.940 and 1.950, in the days that winds of the north blew, they kept the nets safe in the port de l´Estartit, and the crew went to the Blakc tavern ( Cal Negre) There , the glasses of wine were served directly from a tap of Cuba which was used generously, they swiched on a repertoire of Havanans known with the of Americans, between other songs, like tavern ones, popular catalan, sardanas, rancheras, marine valses...

The name Els Pescadors de l´escala, firstly was used spontaneously by their public and adopted exclusively by right in 1.965, when, in fact, the band had already been using it during twelve years. The founder was the charismatic and well-known Simeó Català Portell whose spirit is always in the place that he occupied in each song. In addition of Havanans, they have a varied repertoire of catalan, satirical, marine valses, napolitanas, sardanas , traditional songs, tavern songs can be listened...
